How to Boot into Bootloader Mode in Samsung Galaxy A31

Samsung Galaxy A31 launched in 2020 and was the latest mid-range device in the market. It comes with a large 6.4” Super AMOLED display, a Helio P65 processor, quad-rear-camera, and a large 5,000 mAh battery which make it a desirable smartphone. Knowing how important it is for some users to access the Bootloader Mode in their device, this guide shall help you to enter it with ease.

Why Boot Into Bootloader Mode On Samsung Galaxy A31?

Boot Booting into Bootloader Mode on any device is important since it helps users gain access to different system files of the device. It can also help them install custom ROMs, unlock or relock the bootloader, etc. There are a few other advantages of doing it such as:

  • Change the 32bit mode to 64bit mode
  • Unlock the bootloader
  • Install custom ROMs and flaunt a new look
  • Perform Flashing/Root on the Samsung Galaxy A31

  • Reset the handset to its factory default settings

How to Boot Into Bootloader Mode in Samsung Galaxy A31?

Since boot loader mode is a powerful sequence, there are certain steps which one should follow in order to enter the boot loader mode on the Samsung Galaxy A31. They are as follows:

Step 1:

Firstly, hold down the Power button of the Samsung Galaxy A31 for a few seconds, until the Power menu appears on the screen.

Step 2:

Next, tap on the ‘Power Off’ button and confirm the selection. After this, the device will turn off completely.

Step 3:

Now, press and hold the Volume Down + Power Button simultaneously for about 5 seconds.

Step 4:

When the blue screen appears with the message ‘Installing system update’, release all the keys.

Step 5:

You will now be able to see the Bootloader Mode menu on your device with multiple options:

  • Reboot System Now: This option will reboot the device and take it back to the normal interface.
  • Apply Update From ADB: This option lets you update the System Software (firmware) through ADB.
  • Reboot to Bootloader: This option will take you back to the current screen again, i.e. the Bootloader Mode menu.
  • Recovery Mode: This option will boot the Samsung Galaxy A31 into the recovery mode, from where you can wipe data and do other necessary settings.
  • Apply Update From SDcard: This option allows you to update the System Software (firmware) through the external memory card.

Step 6:

Now, press the Volume Up button to highlight the ‘Reboot to Bootloader’ option. After this, press the Power key to select and confirm it.

Step 7:

As soon as the Bootloader Mode appears again, type the following command into the Command Prompt of your computer.

The result should be a unique code which will validate the connection between the device and the system.

Step 9:

Now, type the following command to flash the Generic System Images (GSI) on your Samsung Galaxy A31.

fastboot Flash GSI [GSI file]

Step 10:

When the device has completed the flashing process, type the command:

fastboot reboot
